Hi, I’m Alfred, a retired engineer. I was fascinated by what made a radio sound back in the 1960s when I was a small boy. Somehow I became an enthusiastic radio/electronics hobbyist. I studied Electronics Engineering and became a professional on RF/wireless communications.
I have chosen a rewarding career and participated in the evolution of the modern electronics industry. I started with discrete transistor circuit design and succeeded in updating myself to work on VLSI/SoC for 5G mobile communications, UAV/drones and LoRa/Meshtastic projects.
I start this blog to share my experiences as a hobbyist and a pro. I will cover many topics including antiquated radio, CQ transceivers, cellular radio, test equipment and more. Apart from historical stuff, which may be boring to most people but nostalgic to me, I will include technical stuff from equipment troubleshooting and/or mods to practical projects.
